Everyone has a different reason for their need to “side hustle.” For some, it’s the flexibility that matters, for others it’s the extra cash, but for me, I have many side hustles because it’s an outlet for my creative work and it helps pay for my graduate school.
I am currently a graduate student at the University of Florida earning my master’s through their online program. Being online gives me the flexibility to work and go to school on my own time. I recently created a social media management company. Let me tell you, starting a new business while in school is not easy.
My side hustles, teaching dance, choreographing children’s theatre, and personalizing clothing and accessories helps pay for school and gives me the opportunity to grow my business at my own pace. In addition to the extra income, my side hustles are also outlets where I can release my creativity. I am by nature a very creative person and when I am not creating I go stir crazy!
Sites like Etsy, Ebay, Amazon, and Facebook Marketplace can make anyone an entrepreneur right from the comfort of their own home. I personally love Etsy and Facebook for my personalization side business. Etsy is awesome because they take the hassle out of collecting payments, shipping, and finding buyers. Facebook is great because I will mostly sell to my family and friends.
Sometimes side hustles turn into a full time job. For myself, I am just so grateful my side hustles keep me busy, productive, and help pay for school! I hope this inspires you to start a side hustle of your own!
